Participation of Horizon Development Foundation in the 4th Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum

Mr. Yahia Kudaish , CEO of Horizon Development Foundation, participated in the 4th Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum, titled "Exploring the Future of Humanitarian Response", organized by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) in partnership with the United Nations, on February 24-25.

The foundation took part in a series of sessions that aimed to enhance dialogue among a select group of leaders, donors, practitioners, and researchers in the humanitarian sector. The discussions focused on addressing the challenges facing the humanitarian sector and leveraging artificial intelligence technologies to mitigate these challenges and enhance response mechanisms

As part of the project aimed at supporting out-of-school children through innovative and integrated child protection and education activities to enhance access to formal education in Al-Turbah District (Al-Badhija area), and with funding from the British Services Organization, the Horizon Foundation for Development carried out the construction of Al-Khidmat School and the installation of a solar energy system in Al-Turbah District, Taiz Governorate. The foundation established the new school to serve students in the area.

This initiative targeted 300 male and female students, aiming to accommodate them upon their return to formal education after completing remedial education curricula, thereby facilitating their reintegration into the formal education system.

Previously, the project had implemented several programs under the framework of “non-formal education activities” to assist children in returning to school. This initiative is expected to enhance access to basic education for the most vulnerable children, provide essential prevention and protection services, and strengthen the capacity of child protection service providers to deliver fundamental services to children and their communities.

Malnutrition Treatment Project

The nutritional status of children in Yemen is increasingly at risk of serious consequences at different ages, with acute malnutrition rates currently at extremely dangerous levels across the country.

According to statistics, only 15 percent of children consume the minimum acceptable food they need for survival, growth and development.

Horizon Foundation, with the support of its partners, continues to implement projects to treat malnutrition in children, with 100 malnourished children benefiting from nutrition sector activities every month.
