The European Union Mission team, represented by Ms. Carolina Hedstrom, Head of the Cooperation Department at the European Union Mission in Yemen, along with several members of the mission, visited the projects implemented by the Horizon Foundation for Development. These projects are funded by the European Union in partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Council - Yemen Office. The purpose of the visit was to observe the progress of the livelihood strategies enhancement project among the affected populations of conflicts and disasters in Lahj Governorate.

During the visit, Ms. Carolina was briefed on the progress of the project activities and development programs implemented by the Horizon Foundation for Development as part of the livelihood strategies enhancement project among the affected populations of conflicts and disasters in Lahj Governorate.

The project focuses on promoting the growth of small-scale enterprises through providing small grants and vocational training. The foundation offers beneficiaries professional skills training in various disciplines and trains them on managing and succeeding in small enterprises.

The project aims to enhance community resilience in dealing with the impacts of current disruptions and empower those whose livelihoods have been severely disrupted to regain and rebuild their lives. It also aims to promote stability and peace by providing livelihood opportunities to vulnerable groups and improving social and economic infrastructure. It is expected to contribute to the resilience of communities.

Horizon Foundation for Development honored its staff at its main headquarters in the city of Aden yesterday, Wednesday, February 1, 2023, in a celebratory atmosphere that reflected the noble values of humanitarian work. The event aimed to motivate the employees, acknowledge their humanitarian and social role, and recognize their contributions to serving the community through the implementation of the Foundation's projects throughout the previous year, 2022.

During the event, Mr. Yahya Mohammed Kudish, the Executive Director of the Foundation, delivered a speech expressing his deep gratitude and high appreciation to all the staff members for their dedicated efforts during the past period. He urged them to continue their hard work and strive for excellence in the current year, in order to serve a society that is suffering from the effects of war and the deteriorating economic situation resulting from the ongoing crisis.

He emphasized that this modest recognition is a tribute to the Foundation's team and is part of efforts to improve job performance and provide a genuine incentive for increased productivity and excellence among the employees, who have been a wonderful example of vitality and activity throughout the past period. It is important to note that throughout the course of the previous year, several vital projects in numerous humanitarian sectors across different governorates were put into action. These projects played an active role in alleviating the suffering of citizens, the poor, people with special needs, and all segments of society.

Horizon Foundation for Development has launched its winter aid programs for the year 2022-2023, targeting approximately 18,500 individuals belonging to the most impoverished, marginalized, and internally displaced families in the governorates of Aden and Taiz.

The aid covers several directorates within the governorates of Aden and Taiz.

These winter assistance projects are part of the initial relief projects implemented by Horizon Foundation for Development, funded by various donor organizations.

Statistics indicate that over 23.4 million individuals, including 12.9 million children, representing nearly three-quarters of the population, are in need of humanitarian assistance and protection in 2022, with a 13% increase compared to the already alarming situation in 2021.

With over 4.3 million displaced persons since 2015, Yemen remains one of the largest internal displacement crises globally.
